With a lead of more than 22 seconds, Michael Ammermüller (GER) and Mathieu Jaminet (FRA) secured victory in the second round of the ADAC GT Masters at Oschersleben. The courage of the decision to go for slicks was rewarded. Together with the seventh place in the race of the previous day, SSR Performance collected important points for the championship.
After SSR Performance was already one of the favorites in the field in Thursday’s test with four top-3 finishes, hopes for qualifying were correspondingly high. But an interruption of the session put a spanner in the works for the Munich team. As a result, Michael Ammermüller had to start the race from the seventh row of the grid. SSR Performance was able to use the one-hour race to its advantage and delivered an exciting race to catch up, which was finally rewarded with seventh place and valuable points for the championship.
The first pole position of the season was not long in coming. Mathieu Jaminet secured the best starting position for Sunday’s race at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben and was by far the fastest in the field with a best time of 1:23:11.
The second race of the ADAC GT Masters season had it all due to rain showers before the start. Mathieu Jaminet handed over the car in second position to his teammate Michael Ammermüller, who took over the #92 Porsche 911 GT3 R on slicks. Although a few positions had to be relinquished initially, the decision to switch to slicks and the team’s flawless pit stop proved to be purposeful. The reigning champion delivered one exciting overtaking maneuver after another. In the end, he crossed the finish line of the classification race as the winner with a lead of more than 22 seconds.
